The New Patient Process
New patient consultation
get you out of any pain or discomfort as soon as possible
correct and rebalance your posture, spine, and nervous system
Help you to get to 100%
On first booking a consultation with our chiropractor, Ed, we will send you a document called a Health Questionnaire. The aim of this is to find out as much about not only the reason for your visit to us, but also previous events that may have had a bearing on your current condition.
Think of the Consultation as being a process of putting a jigsaw puzzle together: we need to ensure we have all the pieces before proceeding. Firstly this starts with looking at your past health history, then by asking you about your current complaint(s).
Lastly, but by no means least, we need to understand what you have been doing that may have helped, or hindered, your recovery. After all, the most important question to ask at this point is, “What is preventing me from recovering and being as healthy as I want to be?”
During your first visit we will fill in any pieces that may be missing in the puzzle: the examination forms a major part of this visit. We will test muscles, joints and nerves with various screening examination tests including, but not limited to, postural assessment, range of motion, neurological and orthopaedic testing.
Finally we will administer any “first aid” type care that you may require, and give you advice so that you can start your recovery there and then.
The Report of Findings Visit
After the first visit, it’s time to report back to you about the pieces we have put together.
There are four questions that we have to answer:
- What can we do to help you?
- What can you do to help you?
- How long is this process likely to take?
- How much will it cost?
As everyone is an individual, we cannot give a “ball park” figure without conducting a consultation process first, but rest assured, our aim is to ensure that you are fully aware of the options available, from doing nothing, through to more drastic measures such as surgery or long-term medication for pain management.
How many visits will be necessary to get you back to 100%?
That depends on the following:
- YOUR STRESS LEVELS – Chemical, Physical and Emotional
- HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN AWARE OF A PROBLEM
- RESULTS OF YOUR EXAMINATION AND POSTURE ANALYSIS
- HOW OLD YOU ARE
- THE TYPE OF JOB YOU DO
